These three words changed my life.
Emma Josephine Robbins was born on March 18 at 3:07pm, weighing 7lbs 5oz and measuring 20.5in long. She is the most beautiful baby girl I have ever seen, with a full head of thick, black hair and gorgeous olive skin (I don’t know how she’s my baby – she must have been replaced in the hospital)
The delivery was much better than my first – only 15 hrs as opposed to 24 hrs, and only 5 min of pushing as opposed to 1.5 hrs – a MUCH better experience! And not knowing what we were having made the experience that much more fun and surreal! I couldn’t believe it when the doctor said “It’s a girl!” – I thought it was too good to be true. Of course we would be thrilled with either a boy or girl, but deep down, I wanted my little girl.
To answer some of the questions I’ve been receiving in reference to Emma:
-We plan on calling her Emma, Emma Jo, or Jo – however the mood strikes us! We love all three names, and are honored to use her nana’s name (my mom – Mary Jo). I’m sure she will carry the name proudly!
-I was induced and did not go into labor naturally. A couple different factors (like high blood pressure and the doctor’s vacation) made that an easy decision. Because of that, the labor started off a little rough, but once we got going, it was a smooth delivery.
-Initially, she looked exactly like Seth. Some of my first words after seeing her (and overcoming the shock that I just had a little girl) were, “You look just like your brother!”. Well, within hours she changed, and now she doesn’t really look like him. In fact, they are complete opposites – her dark hair and dark skin against his fair skin and light hair. Genetics are an interesting thing! I can’t wait to see how she is going to grow and change.
We’re home now, and adjusting to life as a family of four. Seth loves his new baby sister, which is such a relief to me! I didn’t know how he’d handle this new member of the family, but so far, he seems to love her. I cannot wait to see them grow up together and be best of buds. I cannot wait to see him protect her and care for her as a big brother.
I will be posting more pictures soon, but these are just a few I snapped in the hospital. I’m still recovering and getting acquainted with my little girl, so I hope to do her first little photo shoot soon
So in the meantime, I hope this can hold you over!

Needless to say, Matthew was thrilled with the timing of this birth. Notice the March Madness happening on the T.V….
