Happy 2nd Birthday, Emma Jo!

I can’t believe 2 years have passed since we met our sweet little girl, Emma Josephine.  What a light this child has been in our family!  She is so full of life and full of joy, it’s impossible for a day to pass without being entertained by her!

Here are just a few random facts about our little drama queen…

-This girl LOVES to eat.  There’s rarely a food she won’t eat.  I think meatloaf is her favorite – she eats more of it than Matthew or me!

-Emma LOVES princesses.  I don’t even know how this got started (nature vs nurture??). Her current favorite princess is Ariel.  And although she doesn’t have any, she also loves Barbies, or “Bobbies,” as she calls them.  She’s also currently obsessed with Jessie from Toy Story.

-She loves to dress up in anything she can find – a random skirt, a tutu, cowboy hat, fairy wings, necklaces – anything!  She even got a hold of some fabric I was using for a craft project and walked around with it wrapped on her shoulders saying “Princess!”

-Her favorite toys are anything small that she can carry around.  I’ll give you one guess as to which small toys are her favorites.  That’s right, little princess figurines

-The girl loves to dance.

-Her current favorite phrase is “Mommy, wook!  Wook, mommy!!” Always trying to get my attention even if all she has to show me is a smile.

-She is happy 99% of the time.  The other 1% can be turned on in an instant, and watch out – major dramatic meltdowns coming your way!

-She calls Seth “brother” or “brudda” in her language.  He is, of course, her best friend.

-Emma loves her sleep.  So much so, she actually asks us to put her to bed.  She currently sleeps about 12-13 hrs a night with a 2-3hr nap daily.

-She is a very polite little girl, always giving her “peas” and “thank-ums”.  She doesn’t know a stranger and freely gives out waves, smiles, and “Hellos” to anyone she passes.

-She loves to talk, no matter if we understand her or not.

-Disciplining her is quite a challenge.  For one, she is pretty stinkin’ cute when she does something wrong or when you try to correct her.  She knows how to tug on your heart strings.  But even when we are able to not break a smile or melt from her attempt to look cute, she can be very stubborn and just look at you as if to say, “Are we done here?  Can I go play now?” Sounds like another toddler I know (or my parents once knew) – me.  Can’t break her spirit, that’s for sure!

-She’s the cool kid that does her own thing and doesn’t care what anyone else thinks of her.  She has her own style and flair, and you can either love her or move on, in her book.  I wish I lived more with her attitude – there would be a whole lot less worrying what others thought of me and a whole lot more living and loving life!

I’m sure there’s much more I could write about, but that’s just a little glimpse into the sweet life of Emma Jo.  Happy birthday, baby girl!!
