Luke’s Bow-Tie Bash

So I realized about 3 days prior to when we were going to be celebrating Luke’s birthday with our families that I really wanted to do it around a theme.  At first, I just thought we’d all get together, grill out, and have some cake, but seeing as the older two siblings had themed first birthday parties, I really wanted to do the same for Luke!  I know it’s not important and he has no idea, but a first birthday is special and I wanted to showcase that.  So, I decided to make his birthday a bow-tie theme since I had already purchased a little outfit on Etsy with a bow tie for Luke.  The idea came together very well and it was super easy to do.  Pull out some decor from my home, get some fabric and a glue gun, and voila!  A bow-tie bash for my little man.

Now, as the mother of the one-year old, the host, and a photographer, you can see which item came last on my priority list.  I photographed elements of the party before everyone got there, but once the party began, my camera pretty much sat out of the festivities.  I realized later I didn’t even get all his cousins, aunts, and uncles that were there! Shame shame.  But I did not miss the quintessential cake-smashing moment.  We were so proud of our little Lukey! He dove right in and never looked back.  He pretty much demolished that cake in a few minutes!  He didn’t even pause to smile to show how much he enjoyed it.  And no worries, all that blue icing came out of his tie 🙂

I’m quite proud of my last-minute birthday shindig for our little man!  I’m even more overjoyed by the abundance of family that we have that were able to come out and celebrate with our family.  With so many cousins, we aren’t even able to make room to invite friends (for now at least!), but our children our so blessed (as are we) by how wonderful our family is and that we also consider them all friends.  What a joy it is that we can have both sets of Simpson and Robbins family together and enjoy fellowship with one another!  My heart is full!! Thank you, to all our family, for making our Luke feel so loved!!

I made bow ties for all party-goers to wear 🙂

Wouldn’t be a party without IBC Cream Soda!

Proof that even a photographer can’t get her kids to cooperate for a photo the way she wants!!  #humbled

Luke isn’t the best outdoor picture taker.  He’s so light sensitive that he always looks mad.  I promise he was a happy guy that night! 🙂

Luke went straight for the book. A boy after his daddy’s heart….
