KATIE {a senior session}

This senior session was so fun and so easy!  Before I knew it, two hours and 1200 photos had flown by.  Katie was a dream to work with- I rarely had to give any direction! She was such a natural in front of the camera, making every shot unique and her own.  That made my edit very difficult – every photo was different!  We ventured up to my favorite spot to shoot (I hope you’re not sick of this place – I’m not!), which was the perfect spot for Katie.  It fit her style and flair perfectly. I had such a hard time narrowing down pictures for the blog (I know, I say that a lot) because each one was unique.  Isn’t Katie just gorgeous??

MICHAEL {one year}

I have been photographing Michael since he was still in the womb, so seeing him turn a year is so fun!  And he’s just as handsome as he was when he started out as a newborn.  We started out with pictures at Larissa and Kevin’s home, where Larissa had a great set-up with a Korean tradition for the baby’s first birthday.  I’m not sure what all the stuff meant, but there were various items on the table that he was supposed to grab, and each one had a specific meaning for his future. In case you want to know, he went for the money (wouldn’t you??), the pens, and the book.  Definitely a first for me!  Larissa’s mom was also in town from across the ocean, so of course she was included in a few photos.  And what’s a first birthday without some cake?

ZACK + SARAH {maternity session}

There must be something in the water, because I know of lots of babies being born this spring and summer.  You may recognize Zack & Sarah from their beautiful golf course wedding this past fall.  I’m so excited that they are already expanding their sweet family and cannot wait to meet the newest little Woods!  They are one of those few people who aren’t finding out what they are having (I mean, who does that anyways?:)Oh yeah, we do).  What a fun surprise and great motivator for the delivery room!  I’m so excited to find out what they are having (my prediction is boy), and having the opportunity to photograph him/her.  Congrats, Zack & Sarah!! Best of luck in the rest of your pregnancy!

JENN + KENNY {maternity session}

Ahhh, it feels good to be shooting again.  And with the way my calendar (and this weather) looks, a lot more posts will be flooding the blog!  So excited to get this shooting year really started, even if my shooting stance will have to change a bit (to accommodate the growing belly!).  Of course I was thrilled to shoot Jenn & Kenny’s maternity pictures because for one, I shot their wedding years ago and this is a continuation of their growing family, but mainly because Jenn and I go wayyy back and it’s so fun to see this beautiful family of two become three!  And just look at Jenn – who wouldn’t want to shoot her?  She’s a natural with the camera!  We had a gorgeous spring (or should I say summer) day last week in Mt. Adams, where it was a whopping 85 degrees.  It’s quite the sight to see two preggos walking the hills of Mt. Adams with our baby sweat, ahem, glow.  And I had to leave out many of my other favorites in just including the ones you see here, so I hope you like my ‘narrow’ selection of favorites I picked.  It was hard enough to narrow it down to these!  Enjoy! Can’t wait to meet baby Micah!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Emma Jo!

I can’t believe 2 years have passed since we met our sweet little girl, Emma Josephine.  What a light this child has been in our family!  She is so full of life and full of joy, it’s impossible for a day to pass without being entertained by her!

Here are just a few random facts about our little drama queen…

-This girl LOVES to eat.  There’s rarely a food she won’t eat.  I think meatloaf is her favorite – she eats more of it than Matthew or me!

-Emma LOVES princesses.  I don’t even know how this got started (nature vs nurture??). Her current favorite princess is Ariel.  And although she doesn’t have any, she also loves Barbies, or “Bobbies,” as she calls them.  She’s also currently obsessed with Jessie from Toy Story.

-She loves to dress up in anything she can find – a random skirt, a tutu, cowboy hat, fairy wings, necklaces – anything!  She even got a hold of some fabric I was using for a craft project and walked around with it wrapped on her shoulders saying “Princess!”

-Her favorite toys are anything small that she can carry around.  I’ll give you one guess as to which small toys are her favorites.  That’s right, little princess figurines

-The girl loves to dance.

-Her current favorite phrase is “Mommy, wook!  Wook, mommy!!” Always trying to get my attention even if all she has to show me is a smile.

-She is happy 99% of the time.  The other 1% can be turned on in an instant, and watch out – major dramatic meltdowns coming your way!

-She calls Seth “brother” or “brudda” in her language.  He is, of course, her best friend.

-Emma loves her sleep.  So much so, she actually asks us to put her to bed.  She currently sleeps about 12-13 hrs a night with a 2-3hr nap daily.

-She is a very polite little girl, always giving her “peas” and “thank-ums”.  She doesn’t know a stranger and freely gives out waves, smiles, and “Hellos” to anyone she passes.

-She loves to talk, no matter if we understand her or not.

-Disciplining her is quite a challenge.  For one, she is pretty stinkin’ cute when she does something wrong or when you try to correct her.  She knows how to tug on your heart strings.  But even when we are able to not break a smile or melt from her attempt to look cute, she can be very stubborn and just look at you as if to say, “Are we done here?  Can I go play now?” Sounds like another toddler I know (or my parents once knew) – me.  Can’t break her spirit, that’s for sure!

-She’s the cool kid that does her own thing and doesn’t care what anyone else thinks of her.  She has her own style and flair, and you can either love her or move on, in her book.  I wish I lived more with her attitude – there would be a whole lot less worrying what others thought of me and a whole lot more living and loving life!

I’m sure there’s much more I could write about, but that’s just a little glimpse into the sweet life of Emma Jo.  Happy birthday, baby girl!!
