Westin Ebsen: A birth story

I had the sincere privilege of documenting one of my favorite things on earth: a birth. My good friends, Kristen and Scott, invited me to join them in welcoming their newest member of the family – Westin Alan Ebsen. Although I love shooting weddings, I think births just might top them. I love telling the story of the labor, the birth, the new born love that comes with meeting your child for the first time.

Kristen was induced yesterday at noon, and delivered by 9:49pm with 20 min of pushing. I can only pray my THIRD delivery is as easy and smooth as her FIRST! She was a champ and looked gorgeous doing it! Kristen and Scott had their iPod playing during the delivery with a mix of worship songs. As she was pushing, I couldn’t help but notice the song “Amazing God” was playing. I think the point at which I sobbed like a little girl was when Scott held Westin for the first time, with “It Is Well” playing in the background. What a sweet way to bring a child into this world!

I feel so blessed to have been a part of the welcoming of Mr. Westin. I cannot wait to watch him grow and mature! Kristen and Scott, you guys are going to be amazing parents. The Lord has truly blessed you with a perfect baby boy. Congratulations!
