Get your tissues ready, people, because one beautiful baby boy is about to be born. Anna Leigh & Jared go to our church here in Louisville, and Jared is a fellow seminary student. About a month back, Anna Leigh expressed interest in having me photograph the birth of their second child (gender unknown!), and of course I was elated! I’ve said it before, but I think births are my favorite thing to photograph. It is such a special moment that is surrounded by pain, anticipation, chaos, joy, elation, etc. There is sooo much that happens at a birth, and to be able to witness it is truly a wonderful thing. It’s often called the “miracle of birth,” and every time I witness one, I am in such awe at just how miraculous it truly is. We throw that phrase around so much that when you stop to really think about everything that is happening, it’s almost like the word “miracle” doesn’t do it full justice! And getting to watch little Joel be born while I am myself 8 months pregnant made it even more fun! As if I wasn’t anticipating the birth of our peanut enough….
To see their birth story unfold, you can check out their slideshow HERE. {Only tasteful images are included}
So thankful for the world of technology. How did people communicate before texts??
Only would you find these books in the delivery room of a seminary student….
Anna Leigh hearing “It’s a boy!” for the first time!
I just love Jared’s face here! Getting a good glimpse at his son….
Anna Leigh, you are not supposed to look that beautiful just after birth….
Anna Leigh had me in tears as she just cradled her baby boy for the first time in her arms. I’m always in such awe how being with the mother can calm any anxious baby down. Ugh, I just love being a mom – can you tell???
Anna Leigh’s sister got to be in the birth. And she’s an OB nurse – handy to have one of those around!
Thank you, Jared and Anna Leigh, for letting me share in little Joel’s birth story!! What a privilege it was to witness his birth and your instant love for him!!
