Oh it feels good to have a camera in my hands again!! How I’ve missed the sound of the shutter click! Yes, I could have been taking pictures of my own kids and such this whole time off (and I’ve taken a few), but honestly, I have 4 kids aged 5 and under – you think I got time to even think about picking up my camera? Yeah right. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
Well, when my friend Gretchen had her baby, I figured that was the perfect time to dust off the gear and get out for a bit! This shoot was slightly different than most for me – I had 3 kids in tow with me 🙂 That makes for a more distracting interesting time. Seth and Emma are friends with Susie, Gretchen’s oldest, and they have all been dying to play together at Susie’s house. So I brought them with me, along with my extension, Ellie. Luke stayed home and napped while Matthew got work done, so I only had 3 to deal with. Easy peasy. {Seriously – why isn’t there a sarcasm font??} Thankfully, Gretchen’s sister was there visiting because she ended up on Ellie duty while I shot. Naive me thought that the girl would sleep while I was there, but she must have sensed another baby had my attention. Oops. I even had to stop and nurse a couple times during my brief time there. That’s a first.
Bertie performed like a champ amongst the chaos for our little mini-shoot. He was a few weeks early, and small babies run in the family, so this little guy was LIT-TLE. He made Ellie look like a toddler!! He is so incredibly sweet and tiny and squishy – eek I could just eat. him. up. We missed out on having dad or big brother in on the fun, and only a few with Susie, but that’s ok – this was Bertie’s time to shine. I was so glad I got to partake in the documentation of the early days of this blessed little man’s life!! What a sweet and wonderful family he has been born into!! He is so incredibly loved by so many. Blessed, blessed boy.
Here’s just a few faves from the shoot to share….
Oh, Gretchen…You are so beautiful, inside and out!!
I love how big the paci looks against his tiny face!
I loved your pictures, and I appreciate your talent.
