When your old college roommate calls you from Texas asking if you would be willing to come to Houston to photograph her wedding, your answer is always YES. That is, just in case you were wondering. So when this very situation happened to me, I took the challenge, and Matthew and I flew out for Steve & Kristin’s gorgeous outdoor, twinkling wedding. We came a day early so we could spend some time in the Lonestar state for a little getaway, and it was glorious. It was my first time to Texas, so now I can cross that state off my bucket list! Although, I didn’t see anything that looked like Dillon, Texas and any cowboys, so maybe I’ll have to go back some day.
Anywho, I don’t think Kristin and I have seen each other since I got married, over 11 years ago, so it was such a treat to even see her. She was just a beautiful as ever!! And Steve totally adores her, which is fun to witness and be with all day. That’s one of the fun things about being a wedding photographer – getting to see a couple on the happiest day of their lives showing the other one how much they love them. You totally have to be a sap to do my job.
The wedding took place at Oak Tree Manor in a suburb outside of Houston. It was absolutely gorgeous, with lights all around. We were limited on our time for pictures, but we made the most of what we had and rocked out a ton of goodies. The best word I can use to describe their ceremony is magical. There really is not much like it – I certainly haven’t ever seen a ceremony like it before! And even Kristin’s brother married the two of them, so that’s always a nice touch when it’s so personal.
I am still overjoyed that Steve & Kristin invited me to be a part of their wedding and feel as though it was a totally surreal experience for me. So THANK YOU for bringing me all the way out to celebrate with you!!!!!! Muah!
