So I feel like I’ve been a little MIA lately. My apologies. It’s not that I haven’t been busy or anything, but since it’s the “off-season,” I’ve been focusing more energy on my family, on homeschooling, on friends, and finishing up those album designs that lingered from last year. I even taught a photo class in January that was really fun and hope to do it again this summer! Since it’s the time of year people aren’t looking for family photos as well, I’m not doing a ton of shooting, except for those sweet little newborns who just can’t help but be born in the cold days of winter.
My first newborn session of 2017 was with Wilder, baby #3 born to Seth and Kelly. What a precious little bundle he is, and a brave mama Kelly was with how long after her due date she went!! That little guy baked for 2 whole weeks after he was supposed to come out. I give Kelly major props for holding on that long!! As with all my newborn sessions, we did the session in their home, and Kelly had gotten sweet matching pjs for all the kids. Unfortunately, big brother didn’t really want his picture taken, and it took all the things, all the miracles, to get him to sit still for a minute. Poor boy just had his world rocked with a younger sibling, and now there’s this strange lady in their home with a big black box in his face. I get it. I totally do. I know it was probably stressing Kelly and Seth out, but to me, I’m like “this is real life, y’all” and the pictures will be better for it. Are they perfectly posed pictures? No. Are they what I was going for? Not exactly. But I think they are beautiful, showing these kids in the real life of having 3 littles so close together. It wasn’t Pinterest perfect, but yet, neither is life. We all have our days when we want to throw up our hands and say “I quit!” and that day was River’s, but the sweet boy pulled through on some key shots, and we even photographed him with his stuffies and Elmo DVD, which apparently is his thing. A normal shoot, I probably would have taken the DVD out of the picture, but I’m so thankful it’s in there because for Kelly and Seth, they can look back at this time and remember even the smallest things, like the Elmo DVD.
So all that to say, I hope you enjoy these pictures and this beautiful family. And remember that we are given the measure of grace we need each and every day.
Future photog in the works…
Hang in there, Wilder…. 🙂
