Hey all! Remember me? I’m that photographer who once had a blog and posted pictures from sessions I shot. Yeah, I barely remember myself as well. My apologies for the lack of posts lately. I mean, my latest post was from my last wedding of the year, back in November!! And even with that, there are MANY MANY sessions that have not graced my blog yet. If you are patient enough with me, I can totally explain and hopefully receive your forgiveness.
So fall hit like a freight train. Fast, noisy, hard to keep up, and getting away from me. For those of you who don’t know, I homeschool my kids (so far, just the older two are school age, and the younger two are being trotted off to preschool). So as you can imagine, when August/September comes, my life becomes busy with learning alongside my kids – latin, geography, greek myths, etc. Homeschooling is a big job – one that I am extremely grateful to be able to do at this time, despite the craziness of life. I feel blessed that it is a part of our lives and will continue to do it as long as it makes sense for all of us.
Secondly, with the fall comes the onslaught of photo shoots and weddings. I am absolutely NOT complaining about this – I LOVE LOVE LOVE shooting in the fall. The gorgeous colors, the cooler weather, getting to see old clients come back for their family sessions, etc. It’s fabulous. BUT, with lots of shooting comes lots of editing, lots of scheduling, lots of everything. Add that to homeschooling, and you can see how life gets away from me and things get neglected (i.e. the blog). So, if your session has not been blogged, fear not, it’s coming. I have entered my slow season of the year – which will give me plenty of time to rest and enjoy my kids (woohoo!!), and then when I need a break from them (which of course is, ummm, never – wink wink), I’ll be posting some of these lovely sessions.
So yes, the busyness of life got away from me this year. But then life had another curveball for me. If you do not follow me on FB or Instagram, you may not have seen this, but on November 5, the day after my last wedding of the year, I suffered a small stroke. I woke up being unable to speak at all. Fast forward to the hospital and many tests later, it was concluded that I suffered a small stroke on the left side of my brain, causing me to lose the motor function of my vocal chords, all from a migraine. But the Lord has been good to me and I can say now that I have very few symptoms (if any at all on a good day) from my stroke and I am recovering really well. I am incredibly thankful that the Lord spared me from massive trauma and I have felt the love and prayers and support of everyone around me. God is so good, all the time. So for the last couple months, I have spent most of my time recovering and enjoying my family through the holiday season.
Now that you know why I’ve been quiet for so long, hopefully you can forgive me and come back to reading and seeing all that I’ve been up to!! I honestly cannot wait to share these sessions with you and am looking forward to a great and productive 2018!!
